Workers Compensation

Alfred P. Vitarelli is an associate with the firm and concentrates his practice in workers’ compensation defense matters.  Mr. Vitarelli has over 40 years of experience litigating workers’ compensation matters for both petitioners and respondents.

Mr. Vitarelli has dedicated a considerable amount of his time over the years to private and public organizations for the betterment of workers’ compensation practice and education.  In January 1993, he was appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to a six-member ad hoc committee of the Court’s Board on Attorney Certification investigating whether attorney certification should be extended to the areas of workers’ compensation and matrimonial law, and to draw up the regulations and qualifications for attorneys to become certified in workers’ compensation Law.  In September 1996, he was appointed Chair of the newly formed Workers’ Compensation Committee and also appointed as the Workers’ Compensation Member to the Supreme Court’s full Board on Attorney Certification, posts he held until December 2011.  From August 1994 until December 2009, Mr. Vitarelli was an adjunct professor of Workers’ Compensation Law at Widener University School of Law’s Wilmington campus.

In addition to law-related organizations he has been active and held leadership positions in several public service organizations including Rutgers University Camden Law Alumni Association, religious organizations, and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Mr. Vitarelli’s experience and qualifications have been recognized by his peers.  He is a past recipient of The Americo B. Antonelli Memorial Award for Professionalism in the Practice of Workers’ Compensation which was awarded by the Workers’ Compensation Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and he has achieved an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell for 20 years.

He is a graduate of Rutgers University – Camden where he graduated with Honors in Political Science and The Rutgers University School of Law – Camden where he earned his J.D. degree.
