William T. Freeman
William T. Freeman is a partner with the firm and the leader of the firm’s workers’ compensation defense group. He was Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Workers’ Compensation Law attorney in 1998 and then again in 2005. William T. Freeman graduated Rutgers Law School in 1988 and joined Freeman, Barton & Huber. This practice, dedicated to the defense of workers compensation claims, was started by his Grandfather, William G. Freeman who when made a Workers’ Compensation Judge by Governor Cahill in 1972, passed the practice on this his son William P. Freeman and daughter in law Nancy S. Freeman. After joining the firm William T. Freeman worked with his parents for 15 very enjoyable years until their retirement. Most recently, April 2, 2016, Mr. Freeman’s practice was acquired by Brown and Connery. The acquisition added additional resources to Brown and Connery so as to better serve the firm’s clients in every facet of the employer employee relationship.
His most notable accomplishment is having tried cases to a conclusion in every vicinage in the Division. If asked to articulate what distinguishes him from most of his colleagues he would cite his experience gained from statewide practice, diversity of judicial temperament to which he became accustomed, and defending cases against adversaries possessing varying degrees of talent. He believes this translates into solid advice and insight for his clients facilitating good judgment when it comes to making a decision on compensability, settlement or taking a case to trial.
Besides trial court, Mr. Freeman regularly appears in the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division on workers’ compensation and subrogation appeals. His appellate practice has included an appearance before the New Jersey Supreme Court where he successfully argued on behalf of his client where the Court reversed the decision of three separate trial courts.
Mr. Freeman has a varied practice between public sector clients, which include Municipalities, Counties, School Boards, Transit Authorities, Utility Authorities and private sector client’s such as manufacturers, retailers, construction, service and logistics.
Mr. Freeman graduated from Denison University with a bachelor’s degree in 1985. He earned his law degree in 1988 from Rutgers University School of Law-Camden.
Mr. Freeman was admitted to practice in New Jersey in 1988. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Mr. Freeman is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association where he serves on Executive Committee of the Workers’ Compensation Section.
