On October 5, 2023, the United Latinos Association of Rowan University and the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey (“HBA-NJ”) hosted a panel in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Included on the panel were José A. Calves and Arlette Leyba, both associates of the firm, who shared their experiences as Hispanics in the legal profession and offered advice and guidance to the students in attendance.
The HBA-NJ is a statewide organization, which represents the interests of attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students who share a common interest in resolving the issues affecting Hispanics within the legal community. The purpose of the HBA-NJ is to serve the public interest by cultivating the art and science of jurisprudence, by advancing the standing of the legal profession, and by preserving high standards of integrity, honor, and professional courtesy among Hispanic lawyers.
Mr. Calves concentrates his practice in labor and employment and complex civil litigation. He presently serves as the Vice President of the Southern Region for the HBA-NJ.
Ms. Leyba concentrates her practice in labor and employment, complex civil litigation, and financial services and banking. She presently serves as the Law School Liaison Co-Chair for the Hispanic National Bar Association
